Tension Cue

For this to be only my second attempt at cue writing, I must say I am very proud of myself. Horror are my favorite genre of movies so to approach this particular cue I just thought of all what all my favorite thrillers had in common and that is "The Build Up". I started with my dark pads. Once I was able to find a promising vibe with my pads it's almost like everything else fit right in place. With my percussion I visualized how it it when the killer in the movie is walking slow, then he gradually picks up speed. I kept that in mind when I wrote the bass and kick portion of this cue. Between writing hip-hop and tension cues, I must say that tension cue are for more my favorite. It's something about the way you can feel your heart racing as the cue heads toward the "button". Before starting my Project & Portfolio course I had no idea that I would become in love with writing cues. Now I see that there's more lanes out the for producers outside of the normal hip-hop and r&b music that I have previously written.

Hip-Hop Cue

This is my first shot at writing an urban contemporary hip-hip cue.  With a bpm of 150, it has all the "bells and whistles"  to fit any commercial or tv show. When writing this cue I thought of how artists like the Migos or Gunna would approach a track and I let that be my guid to creating this uptempo style cue.
